Are you interested in joining The Friends Group?  We’d love to have you!

We meet on the second Monday of the month at 4 p.m., unless it’s a federal holiday. The library website will have our meeting dates! We also hold a book sale on the second Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Our main focus is to raise funds to help the library with their many expenses.  We do this mostly through our book sales and membership dues.  The funds we raise help with the purchase of books, programming, artist showcases, building improvements, including a new sprinkler system.  We also provide book baskets to various hotels and motels in the village and to the Warren County Jail’s library.

In being a Friend, you can be as involved as you’d like; attending  monthly meetings, helping out at book sales, helping to organize our book sale space, being a reader for the preschool hour, or just reading our monthly minutes to see how your membership dollars are being used.  Whatever your level of involvement,  we’d love to call you a Friend!

Friends of Lake George Library 2nd Annual Craft Supply Sale!

This is a wonderful opportunity to recycle and donate extra supplies which will be loved by the next owner.

What items do you accept?

We accept any and ALMOST all types of craft supplies, examples include fabric, yarn, hooks, needles, craft paint, etc. Please scroll down to review THE LIST OF ITEMS WE CANNOT ACCEPT. The requirement is that they must be in clean and usable condition. If you’re not sure if your crafting supply item is accepted, email inquiries and photos to sskcache@gmail.com.

Do I have to donate supplies to “take” items at the event?

No. You do not have to donate supplies to take items.

How does the “take” at this event work?

Browse through all the donated craft supplies, and if you find any “new to you” treasures you would like to take home, consider making a “free will” monetary donation to the Friends of the Lake George Library. We accept, cash, check and PayPal donations.

What is “free will” donation?

A “free will” donation is when you make a donation that you think is fair for the items that you are taking. WE ACCEPT CASH, CHECKS, AND PAYPAL.

Not Accepting

Unfortunately, we CANNOT ACCEPT the following:

. completed crafts
· home décor (signs, vases, lamps, tables, etc.)
· unfinished projects (unless they come with all the materials and directions to complete)
· appliances of any kind
· kitchen items (glassware, mugs, plates, cups, etc.)
· floral (artificial flowers/foliage)
· any yarn that is less than ½ skein
· drapery/upholstery trim
· fabric material that is less than ¼ yard
· items that are moldy or have an odor (smoke, pets, musty, etc.)
· items with obvious stains
· glass for stained glass
· sewing patterns
· office/school supplies (e.g., pens, notebooks, binders)
· party supplies (e.g., gift bags, wrapping paper, party decorations, banners)

Where can I donate things you cannot accept?

Salvation Army accepts craft items and appliances that are functional. They, and Habitat for Humanity accept furniture and kitchen items. The Buy Nothing Lake George Region Facebook group is a place to post what you no longer need and make connection with people who do need it. Finally, some things can be recycled at the Transfer Station (recycling is free to everyone there), and if you have a pass to the station you can discard things there are well.
