Mitten Knitting Workshop

January 16, 2025

In partnership with the Warren County Commission for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution’s Martha’s Mittens project, we will offer a mitten knitting workshop at the library on Thursday, January 16th at 1:00 pm. This class is intended for knitters who already know the basic knit and purl stitches but want guidance on knitting mittens. The patterns for both circular and flat (two needle) mittens are basic beginner level instructions and are available at the library.

Prior to class, knitters are instructed to cast on 40 stitches in red, white or blue yarn with Size 5 needles and knit a K1, P1 ribbing for 4" (or preferred length) in either flat or circular style. In class, our instructor, Anne Dickinson, will demonstrate how to achieve the important transition points: starting the thumb gusset, decreasing for the top of the mitten and knitting the thumb. Please call the library at (518) 668-2528 to register for this event! Happy Knitting!
